Her Diary 3

Episode 3
Lola laid still in Alex’s arms in his posh king-sized bed. He had been stroking her back, with the hope she will fall asleep but she didn’t. He could tell she was worried about something, and her body seemed tense. His best guess was Lily. It was the longest they had a fight since he knew his girlfriend.
He waited patiently for her to open up to him. The night was long and silent except for the sobbing of Lola. It broke his heart she cried over and over again for the same reason. He really wanted to do something but he didn’t know what to do.
Alex held her tightly in his arms, whispering comforting words to her. Lola knew he was oblivious of the real reason why she was crying. But she didn’t clear the misconception. She felt it didn’t make a difference.
Lola stood up and went to the bathroom. She washed her face in the sink, patted it dry with a towel before running her fingers through her hair to untangle locked ends.
Lola rubbed her chest, taking deep breathes. She wasn’t hurting anymore, which was a good sign. The pain had been a reminder of her past, but now that it was gone, she felt free. So free she didn’t know how to act especially after her sister hit her.
“I’m so tired” she mumbled, lowering her head.
Alex arrived just in time to wrap his arms around her. Those strong arms that protected her, kept her nightmares at bay and gave her warmth.
“I want to tell Lily everything”
Alex was startled. Though he didn’t know what it was, he knew it was something that hurt her so much to keep. “Are you sure?”
“No,” Lola said in a small voice.
He pressed his lips to the nape of her neck, his warm breath tickling her, giving her sweet tingling sensations. “You’re not alone”
She leaned back into him. “Why do you love me?”
“Look in the mirror” Alex replied. She obliged. “Stare into my eyes for your answer”
She chuckled. “Alex,” she said, playing hitting his arms wound around her waist.
“I love you because I love you. The person you are and every flaw in you.”
“You make me a better person,” Lola said staring at his eyes in the mirror. They enjoyed the warmth of their close proximity until she spoke.
“Please, don’t interfere after I talk to her.”
“On the condition you allow me to be by your side”
She removed his arms, turned around and hugged him. “Thank you” she whispered.

Lola’s eyes shot daggers at the doctor in front of her. It didn’t take long for him to be intimidated. He shifted uncontrollably in his seat. She had asked a simple request and he bluntly turned her down, despite knowing who she was. But she refused to leave without accomplishing her goal. One way or the other, she would bend the doctor to do her bidding.
“What is the update on Miss Jones health?” Lola repeated.
“Sh-she is si…ck” the doctor stuttered.
“Of course, I know she’s sick,” she said with a grin.
“W-why are you here?”
“Relax, I won’t hurt you.” replied. “Not unless you refuse to do my bidding.” She waited for her words to sink in. “I’m Miss Jones younger sister and I want an extensive update on your cure for her health”
“Sister?” The doctor questioned in disbelief. He had thought she was some thug who had a beef with Miss Jones and needed to exert revenge.
“I know you are searching for a suitable donor for my sister, don’t search further. I’ll be her donor.”
“That’s great news” the doctor became excited. “She would be very ha-”
She cut him off. “You can’t tell her”
He frowned hard. “You’re her sister, you want to give her a kidney, and keep it a secret?” He wasn’t sure that’s what she wanted.
“Exactly,” she said flaunting a sweet smile. “Any other questions?”
“Why?”
“That’s for me to know and you to do your job. Let’s start the necessary tests, I want it done as soon as possible.”
The doctor wasn’t convinced but he knew he had to respect her wishes of being hidden to save her sister. He listed out the necessary information she needed to heed to before the transplant.
“Are you truly Miss Jones younger sister?” The doctor questioned again.
“Why? I don’t look anything like her?”
“Let’s get you tested if you are a suitable donor”
“I know I am a suitable donor,” she said with a wink.
Lola did all the necessary tests and truly, she was a suitable donor. She was very happy. She had passed her first hurdle. She left the hospital to Lily’s office.
Her secretary informed her she was with Efe. She smiled happily at the thought of them patching up. She waited till they stepped out of the office, which was hours later. They were surprised to find her waiting patiently for them.
“Lola?” Lily said scooping her into her arms. “Are you okay? Why did you wait outside? What’s wrong? Is it Alex?”
“Alex” she mumbled. Of course, she would think the worse of him. “I’m fine,” Lola said with a huge smile.
“Do you want to speak to her in private?” Efe chimed in.
Lola shook her head. “The bar needs my rapt attention and won’t be around so often”
“I already apologized on her behalf. You don’t have to stay away from her, it won’t happen again.” Efe assured her.
Lily darted glances between her boyfriend and sister. She felt somewhat lost any time both of them were having a conversation. It was like she wasn’t the person they were talking about.
“Let’s talk in my office” Lily suggested.
“I’ll try to come home whenever I can. Take care of yourself, Lily.” She said, turning to Efe she added. “You too’
Lola walked out on them. They felt her words were a cryptic message they needed to decipher. She had never been too busy for her sister but why the sudden change? They haven’t talk?
“Have you sorted it out with Lola?” Efe asked, turning to her.
“I have barely seen her,” Lily said. “Something is fishy”
“She just hasn’t forgiven you for hitting her”
His words pained her heart and she knew it was the truth. She hadn’t had any time to sort out their differences because she was never around to. She keeps running off. She wondered if their relationship will return to how it was.
“I’ll sort it out,” Lily said with determination.

Lola went to her bar after she left Lily. She surfed the net and the incident with her sister was a hot topic. She ignored the posts and surfed the net. When she was tired, she opened her drawer with a password and brought a diary.
She trailed her fingers over the diary. Her therapist had encouraged her to write down the thoughts and memories that plagued her mind. But it wasn’t just mere memories, it was events that shaped her and her sister’s lives. She had hoped someday, she would be able to read it after she wrote it. Sadly, that day never came. She could never bring herself to open the diary after she wrote it a long time ago.
